2013 Top 5 Performance Cars Under $25,000

So why did we set the maximum price at $25,000 for Top 5 best performing car of 2013?  If you want to buy a new car that you can brag about its performance that's pretty much what you will have to spend as there aren't hardly any cars under $20,000 that can inspire drivers looking for a true fun drive.

1. 2013 Subaru BRZ, 2013 Toyota Scion FR-S

Horse Power: 200 hp @ 7000 rpm
Torque: 151 ft-lbs @ 6400 rpm
Curb Weight: 2762 lbs.
0-60 Acceleration: 6.7 seconds

The car is sold under Subaru and Toyota brand, and the are pretty much identical under the hood but not materials used for trims and etc.  It is built based on Subaru 2.0-liter boxer engine with majority of Toyota technology.  BRZ stands for "Boxer Rear-drive Zenith" and it rides on a unique platform co-developed by Subaru and Toyota.

It is a one of the lightest sports cars on the market which contribute significantly to its excellent handling and quick take-off despite of its somewhat low horse power rating.

Subaru BRZ can be had at just under $25,000 unless you have to have all the options.

2. 2013 Ford Mustang V6

Horse Power: 305 hp @ 6500 rpm
Torque: 280 ft-lbs @ 4250 rpm
Curb Weight: 3401 lbs
0-60 Acceleration: 5.9 seconds

Newely developed high tech V6 engine of this Mustang gives you a kind of performance you would expect from Mustang V8s in not too distant past. It is essentially an entry level Mustang, but it surely does not feel like a entry level sports car when compared to offerings from other manufacturers at a similar price point.

2013 Hyundai Genesis 2.0T utilizes twin-scroll turbocharger with 53 percent larger intercooler to produce mind blowing power from a tiny 2.0 engine.  Just look at the spec above, and you will know what I mean.  It produces 275 ft-lbs at 2000 rpm, producing instant power out of the corner with minimal turbo lag.

It's estimated at $25,000 for the base model.

4. 2013  Volkswagen GTI

This is the slowest car of the five in the list, but it's got a great handling with spacious seats and cargo, making it the most practical car in the list as well.  It also costs about $25,000.

5. 2013 Chevrolet Camero LS V6

Horse Power: 323 hp @ 6800 rpm
Torque: 278 ft-lbs @4800 rpm
Curb Weight: 3780 lbs
0-60 Acceleration: 6.0 seconds

Camero is a direct competitor of Ford Mustang as it has been for many years.  It does have very similar performance specs as well.  Testers reports that it truly feels like a muscle car even with V6 version with gobs of power off the line, and makes amazingly nimble sharp turns like a small car.

You can be a proud owner of this modern psudo muscle car for about $23,000.
