2014 Porsche Macan Previewed Ahead of LA Auto Show

Porsche's popular Cayenne SUV will soon witness a birth of smaller sibling in the family; the 2014 Porsche Macan will make its official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, but the automaker posted a preview of the new compact SUV on its Facebook page.

Porsche originally announced the Macan early last year and has released few details since. The compact SUV's sloping roofline, sleek lines and coupelike silhouette places it squarely in Land Rover Range Rover Evoque territory. Based on the photos, it looks like it'll be off-road ready.

Prices have also leaked online. At launch, Porsche will offer a Macan S with a 335-hp 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 priced at $52,000, and a Macan Turbo with a 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 394 hp priced at $75,000.

The Macan will likely share components with the Audi Q5 and sport a unique suspension, 911-inspired interior and new engines. Production will take place at the marque’s Leipzig assembly plant and will be pitched as a premium rival to the likes of the Range Rover Evoque and BMW X3.. Stay tuned for more news from the L.A. Auto Show and check out the photos below.
