Kia K900 - a True Luxury Car with a Bargain Price

Wow, can you believe Kia is now producing a luxury sedan to go head to head with German automakers.  Sure, Kia doesn't have that prestigious image like Mercedes, BMW or not even Lexus, but this car really does look much better than anything Kia has released in the past.

Kia K900 is a platform-mate of the flagship sedan from its parent company Hyundai, Equus, which has established as a excellent alternative to Mercedes S-Class in many parts of Asia.  Kia believes that full size luxury sedans from the German automaker have been out of reach for the most in terms of their prices.

That makes a room for a car such as K900 to place itself in between midsize luxury cars (such as Mercedes E-Class and BMW 5-Series) and a full size luxury cars.  The K900 is priced at $65,000, and drives like BMW 7-series according to some reviewers.

It packs V-8 engines with 420 HP, LED adaptive headlights, a power trunk, leather seats and dash, heated/ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a 17-speaker 900-watt Lexicon sound system, and front/rear parking cameras.

The VIP package option adds a color head-up display, a 12.3-inch TFT instrument screen and ventilating reclining seats.  The list of super luxury option falls a little short of Hyundai Equus which can be ordered with massage seats and even a fridge, but it still is one of the best equipped car for its price range.

"The K900 isn't going to be a big volume seller," said Michael Sprague, Kia's executive vice president of sales, marketing, and communications. "It's really about the Kia brand."

It is great to see more choices in this segment.  It surely will force the current market leaders to stay more competitive.
