Hyundai Equus is a Competent Full Size Luxury Car

Hyundai produces full-size super luxury car for a mid-size price of $68,0000.  Equus by Hyundai is a well established luxury vehicle in Korea and some other countries, but it's virtually unknown in the U.S.

It's partly because the car was available in the states for only a few years and the brand has never been associated prestigious luxury cars until now.  But if you see this car in person, you may change your mind in a heartbeat.

I don't know what's the profit margin for Hyundai to sell each one of this fantastic car, but it must be pretty slim.  It has to be one of the biggest bargain car out there considering how much German auto makers charge for similarly sized and specced vehicles.

In terms of exterior styling, Equus is not on far with its rivals such as Mercedes S-Class, BMS 7 Series, Audi A8 and Lexus LS.  Where Equus can stand against the competitions and even exceed in some areas is the interior and the power-train.

The 429-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8 engine mated to a eight-speed transmission is amazingly quiet, and totally isolate occupants from the road noise at highway cruising speed. The standard air suspension can be set to either Sport mode for firmer ride or Normal setting for more cushy and comfortable ride.

In the front, a large 9.2-inch touch screen dominated the center dash, and all the climate and sound system controls were arrayed horizontally beneath it as they would be in a proper European vehicle.

The straight-line acceleration is quiet respectable at 5.5 seconds for 0-60 mph which is a tad faster than Lexus LS.

Also, the Equus probably is roomier in the back than most of its competitors; it almost feel like a limousine.

It's hard to say that Hyundai Equus is better than most other full-size luxury cars that usually cost at least more than $20,000, but it surely is a great contender.
