Best Hybrid Luxury Sports Sedan Under $45,000 - Infiniti Q50S

Luxury sports sedan is probably the hottest and most competitive market segment with some of the best looking cars you can buy.  There are many choices in this segment, but not that many hybrid options here yet.

Infiniti's next generation G series compact luxury sedan is a much needed evolution of the company's best selling model.  First, the name change was quiet confusing since Q moniker was reserved for its large flagship sedan in the not so distant past.  Regardless of the possibly bad choice for the name, this is one sharp looking car.

The performance and technology built into this awesome looking car is even more amazing, especially when you consider its price tag.

There are seven different models in the Q50 lineup, but the two sportiest versions wear an red S on their decklid badge. The 'S' indicates a premium model fitted with 19-inch alloy wheels, high-performance brakes, 10-way sport seats, sport-tuned suspension, magnesium paddle shifters and a unique front fascia.

This hybrid version comes with a 3.5-liter V6 that, together with an electric motor, makes a total of 360 HP, making it the most powerful for its size and price.

The all-wheel drive equipped model has a pretty good acceleration with its 5.2-second sprint to 60 MPH.  While the seven-speed transmission is no slouch, it can leave one wanting something a bit sportier and faster like the ones in German rivals.

One thing that Infiniti couldn't overcome is the increased weight; 4,145-lb pound to be exact. The Q50S Hybrid may be the most powerful vehicle in its class but it’s really heavy.

The all-wheel drive Q50S Hybrid get an average 28 mpg, but the real world mileage could be less.  That's a number that shouldn't belong to hybrid vehicle gas mileage, especially a compact one such as Q50.  It seems the addition of electric motor was aimed at increasing the performance rather than fuel saving.

Infiniti Q50S Hybrid may not be a best seller in its category but it sure is one unique vehicle full of technology and great all-around performance.
