2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI Get Highest Safety Rating from IIHS

When you think of the best crash proof cars, full size luxury sedans and oversized SUVs may come to your mind first.

The 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI are pocket rockets that are undeniably fun to drive. It's a great reassurance to know that these awesome cars have been proven themselves as one of the safest cars on the road by earning a 2014 Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute For Highway Safety (IIHS).

It's not easy to get the top rating from IIHS which requires a Good rating in each of the Institute’s crashworthiness tests including the small overlap front test. For 2014 tests, 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI were tested for the time by the institute. It’s a significant moment for Subaru as the cars were completely redesigned for the 2015 model year.

This makes Subaru having six models with 2014 safety awards from the IIHS. Three have earned the Top Safety Pick rating and three have earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating.

On a side note, Subaru has announced plans to attempt to set a new lap record at the Isle of Man TT course with the 2015 WRX STI.

A British rally champion driver Mark Higgins will attempt at setting the new record, beating the previous record of 19 minutes and 56.7 seconds.  A series of good news for Subaru should help the company increasing its sales numbers in the upcoming year.
