Action RocketSkates Can Propel up to 12 MPH

Can a pair of roller skates get any cooler than this?  Can you imagine yourself gliding through people on a city sidewalk wearing these gadget that look like it was dropped off from the future?

If a startup called ACTON Global proves successful, then urban hipsters will commute using electric roller skates.

It's not actually powered by a rocket as the name indicates, but it is properly motorized and is capable of 12 mph.

ACTON Global, which is located in Southern California, launched a Kickstarter campaign for its RocketSkates at the Wearable Technologies Conference in San Francisco recently.

The dual-wheeled RocketSkates strap to either side of your shoes and can move over the pavement at speeds of up to 12 miles per hour.  That doesn't seem so fast, but you will probably change your mind once you actually try it yourself.

The Acton RocketSkates have already surpassed their KickStarter goal ($50,000) by over10 times. It simply indicates that so many people do want to try or own this electric roller skates.  Luckily they won’t have to wait much longer as the RocketSkates are slated to ship in October.

The running time is not too bad at all.  Depending on the model, they can run for up to 90 minutes, and they take about the same amount of time to recharge.

All the accelerating, braking, and steering is done with your feet after selecting a “lead foot” with the mobile app.   Power buttons are located on the back of each skate to power them on.  Giving yourself a little push-off starts up the motors indicated by a arcade like sound effect.

There are three models to choose from. The Rocket Red skates cost $500 per pair, the Terminator Chrome skates are priced at $600, and the Deep Space Black skates will set you back $700.
