Bridgestone's Airless Tires are Almost Ready for Primetime

Bridgestone showcased an updated versoin of it second generation prototype airless tires named "Air Free" during 2014 Paris Motor Show.  The Japanese tire giant is not the only company developing pneumatic tires, but it may be able to bring the first production model to the consumer market.

Bridgestone has been working hard for years to develop and enhance their invention, which practically replace the air-filled rubber donuts of today's tires with a single band of rubber wrapped around resin blades built to absorb shock and support a car's weight.

Hankook Tires has also showed off their version of airless tire prototype a couple of years ago named i-Flex, but we have not heard much about the production version since then.

If successful these new breed of tires may replace the run flat tires that are growing in popularity for premium model of cars today.  Stay tuned for more updates!
