605 HP Audi Prologue Concept is Tech Heaven

Audi's line-up of cars typically do not compete directly with its German rivals - Mercedes and BMW - in some aspects of their car design such as engine output and refined driving feel.  What the company does better than any other car brands is the its unique performance oriented styling in every way.

If Audi manages to carry this concept vehicle all the way to the production line, they may have a big winner. According to Audi official, the Prologue's engine is good for 605-horsepower which can propels the car to 62 miles per hour in 3.7 seconds.  That's in the same league as Mercedes AMG and BMW's M series cars.

To start with, the driver gets a "three-level" simulated 3D cockpit, with one showing crucial driving information and two simulating visual depth. Audi says that makes the mass of driving, vehicle, navigation and entertainment information "better organized and easier for the driver to comprehend."

The Prologue is Lichte's first vehicle to be shown publicly since he took over as Audi's design chief in February after leading exterior design at Volkswagen.

"Making technology visible in design is what it's all about," Lichte recently told Car Design News in discussing the concept.

The great news is that "The design is frozen and decided by the board."  So this is not one of those concept car made just for an auto show.

The price details have not be released yet.
