Drivers Pulled Over for Presents in Michigan

Police in Lowell, MI are doing a public service in a big way this holiday season.  They are pulling over drivers to hand out gifts instead of tickets.

"It was kind of different. OK, people don't like getting stopped by police but we'll make it work," said Scott Vansolkema, of the Lowell Police reported by CNN.

In fact, it wasn't even random gifts they wrapped in advance.  Officer Vansolkema and Gordy Lauren asked the drivers what they wanted for Christmas and handed off the list to the task force waiting nearby.

They ranged from various toys to televisions.  So you know what to ask when an officer in uniform asks you what you want for Christmas.

The item was picked up from a nearby store, wrapped, given to the officer then given to the driver.

The "Christmas Surprise" video was shot by a production crew from UPtv, a family friendly network on cable. They spent two days in Lowell following officers around, while they pulled people over for "minor violations."
