Hyundai's Subcompact Crossover Concept Drawing

Hyundai Motor Co. is planning on expanding its crossover line-up with a subcompact model in the near future.  The company unveiled the first rendering of the company's forthcoming subcompact crossover dubbed the Creta.

The company said the small crossover will be designed with a "sleek, sporty profile" and a "stable, confident stance."

The sketch as seen above confirms that the Creta is closely bench-marking its own production model the ix25 which is currently being sold in China. Its front end falls in line with Hyundai's latest design concept such as hexagonal grille with three slats and swept-back headlights wrapped in a sculpted bumper with three air dams.

Hyundai said the hidden A-pillar was applied to create unique and dynamic styling while  "hinting at an open and airy cabin."

The Creta, if made into production, will join a growing number of subcompact crossovers models by other automakers such as the Nissan Juke, Honda HR-V, Chevrolet Trax, Jeep Renegade, Fiat 500X and Mazda CX-3.
